An extraordinary ending to the Sisters of the Road USA tour!
The final Sisters of the Road Tour stop was an event that took place at the US Department of Transportation headquarters in Washington, D.C., where the voices and stories of women truckers were front and center.
In a remarkable collaboration between Sisters of the Road and the US Department of Transportation (US DOT), this event celebrated the often-overlooked contributions of women in the trucking industry while highlighting the ongoing push for equity and inclusion in transportation.
Several of the trucker women featured in the Sisters of the Road book made the journey to Washington, D.C., to take part in this milestone gathering. These women—trailblazers in a male-dominated industry—shared their personal stories, triumphs, and challenges through speeches and guided tours of the gallery, which was specially curated for the event.

One of the most impactful moments of the event was the direct dialogue these trucker women engaged in with key leaders of the US DOT. For many, this was more than just a conversation; it was a chance to advocate for critical changes in transportation policy that would benefit not only women but also the entire workforce. The candid exchange of ideas and experiences underscored the importance of creating a transportation system that is equitable, safe, and supportive for everyone—especially for those who have historically been marginalized.
The trucker women involved put together a document that was to be distributed on the day — Transportation Equity Initiative Challenge
